Nordic Championship Show -held in Denmark September 2007

The Nordic Championship as the name suggests brings together the 4 member countries.This show is held over 2 days every year in one of the participating countries,in 2008 it will be in Norway.
Each judging book has the name of the breeder prefixing the guineapigs name ,exact age,the name of the exhibitor and an indication of wether they bred the pig .
The first challenge is B.I.G. (best in group) similar to our best of breed or section.There are 2 seperate Best In Shows one for exhibits 5 months and under B.I.S.J.and the other for 5 months and aboveB.I.S.
The book steward writes your critique on an individual page for each exhibit and this is handed to the exhibitor at the table.At this stage a judge can award a certificate to the exhibit and when that guineapig has 3 they become a champion.There is usually a cheer at the table if you have just awarded the third certificate.
Everyone presents their own pig to the judge usually on a round board and can comb/brush their exhibit to show it off to its best.
Most of the exhibitors have travelled long distances and sleep on the floor at the show hall.To help them sleep there is a party on the Saturday night.
It starts off fairly civilized with a lovely meal and wine,followed by a game of bingo,then the music starts!!!!
As the night becomes day some people fall by the wayside others take the party outside
At 3.00 a.m. you start to think that as a judge it is important not to forget you are judging again in a few hours time
The final day and each judge sends their best exhibits forward for the B.I.S.there is great excitement and a wonderful presentation .

As the Norwegian exhibitors travelled so far to get to the show they had 2 shows in one
Rex and I both judged all of the exhibits independently
Amazingly our top 5 exhibits were the same
Rex gave B.I.S. to the Alpaca
Nikki gave B.I.S. to the Sheltie
Rex and I both awarded a certificate to a skinny and thus made the first ever Norwegian Skinny Champion
Finally we were asked to choose a special award exhibit ,we decided to make this the pig we would most like to take home
We also judged breeders groups where you look at pairs and discuss breeding and improvements
